Center Court Conversations

For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them. Matt. 18:20

Center Court Conversations are a way people can gather together regularly and encourage one another in their journey with Jesus and play the game we love – basketball. These gatherings can be done at parks, homes, or even rest stops. Each conversation encourages people to be thankful, learn about human nature, learn about God’s nature, accept God’s invitation for transformation, and encourage one another through prayer and support.

The general flow of a Center Court Conversation is listed below:

  1. Ask the question “What are you thankful for?” This question is a reminder that no matter what is happening we can be thankful to God.
  2. Read a passage from the Bible. This can be done from one or several versions of the Bible.
  3. Ask the question, “What does this teach me about human nature?”
  4. Ask the question, “What does this teach me about God’s nature?”
  5. If this is true, how can I add this to my playbook for life?
  6. Is there anyone I would like to share this with?
  7. Are you dealing with any problems, can I pray for you?
    How can I help you?

We also include an inspiring quote from a coach or athlete (generally related to basketball) that fits the theme of the day.

A wonderful part of these conversations is they can be on any topic. You can do a series of conversations based on a theme or create one based on questions asked during the previous conversation.

Lastly, everyone gets to play. We learn from one another by sharing what God’s Spirit teaches us in the passage.
